The setting for the WISH fashion shoot this month was one of the last houses Australian architectural master Harry Seidler designed, known then as the Berman House. Overlooking the Wingecarribee River at Joadja in NSW’s Southern Highlands, the stunning four-bedroom property was completed in 1999, six years before Seidler died at the age of 82. “It’s a partnership with nature – we fitted the house into its setting,” the architect said. There is no doubt the curved roof and largely glass exterior allow you to appreciate the spectacular bush surrounds. The property, which took out a major architectural award, is available for rent through Contemporary Hotels, a luxury holiday home/apartment/villa rental provider that has a portfolio of properties designed by some of the country’s leading architects. It was started by Terry Kaljo after she opened boutique hotel Medusa in Sydney, and has expanded to include exclusive residences across NSW, Queensland and South Australia, and even properties in Paris, on Italy’s Amalfi Coast and in Bali.
