Where’s the best place for a special occasion dinner?

Bert’s Bar & Brasserie is a grand dining room that’s perfect for a special evening. Owned by local hospitality entrepreneur Justin Hemmes, he named the restaurant after his sister and it’s definitely fancy fine dining with a French-influenced menu and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.

“Another local hotspot is Jonah’s, a stunning restaurant at Whale Beach. There’s a rumour that it’s Mick Jagger’s favourite restaurant, I’m not sure if that’s true but he’s certainly dined there alongside many other famous faces.  It’s all about the wonderful view so I always recommend going for lunch to make the most of it.”

What are your favourite brunch places?

“The Boathouse at Palm Beach is iconic, and the perfect place for brunch. I also love Whale Beach Deli Less busy but also great is the Greedy Goat. I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention Pronto, its owner Stacy is a local and her chicken mushroom pies are delish.”

Where’s the best place for a classic pub meal?

“There’s so many great pubs around town! I love The Newportanother one owned by Justin Hemmes, it’s been a local institution for years.  Kids will love its dedicated gymnasium with giant-sized Jenga, bowling alley and games. Club Palm Beach is also terrific, it’s just a short stroll from the Palm Beach wharf and it offers all the delicious pub meals you’d expect.”

Where’s the best spots to take a picnic?

“With scenic views everywhere there’s plenty to choose from! Lighthouse Beach and Sandy Point Beach are both lovely. The Bible Gardens is a romantic spot and many proposals have happened there over the years (including my own)!  I always suggest guests grab takeaway from Palm Beach Fish and Chips then enjoy their feast overlooking the Ferry Wharf at Palm Beach.”
