This cosy 1-bedroom apartment in Potts Point is located in the iconic Harry Seidler Gemini building overlooking magnificent Sydney Harbour. The apartment has seen a clever redesign by Anthony Gill Architects, and even more recent additions by well known Sydney Interior Designers Arent and Pyke.
What we love
We love the iconic Seidler Gemini building with positioning and views over the city, and its proximity to all the Potts Point restaurants. We especially love the spectacular sky garden and pool!
What the owners love
The owners love that the apartment is filled with natural light and the window views across to the Art Gallery and Botanic Gardens. The roof top pool with garden gives a feeling of space and is a superb place to relax or take a swim. The prime location means they are so accessible to the city, harbour and Potts Point living.
This Gemini complex consists of two low-rise buildings side by side, situated at the leafy end of Victoria St in Potts Point. The iconic building with its impressive Harbour views is a great place to experience Sydney.
When Anthony Gill Architects refurbished the apartment they gave careful consideration to the compactness and created a warmth and softness with the interiors. The apartment was already blessed with natural light with the clever design of the building giving a window to each room. Full window height in the living room only accentuates the views further taking in Woolloomooloo Bay, the Sydney Opera House and the city skyline.
An inventive living wall of plywood joinery running the length of the apartment separates the kitchen and living. This works as a screen, but also allows interaction between the spaces through various open shelves in the design. Recent new additions by renowned designers Arent & Pyke see the apartment furnished with stylish furniture and soft lighting. A Saarinen table and wish bone chairs sit just in front to the windows and take in the skyline. A beautifully refurbished bathroom is a superb new inclusion, featuring terrazzo and mosaic tiles, and Arne Jacobsen Vola tap ware.
The hidden gem in this apartment building is the garden in the sky a rooftop sun-deck and swimming pool with 360-degree views of Sydney Harbour. This was Seidlers’ gesture to the Gemini complex and features a footbridge connecting the twin rooftops to each other. Contemporary landscaping, greenery and large oversized pots and succulents create a relaxing place to unwind and take in the awe-inspiring view.
The Gemini maintains a high standard in its communal areas, gardens, sun deck and swimming pool. The grounds lead out to Victoria St with an easy walk to the well known restaurants here and on nearby Challis and Macleay St. It is only a 15 minute walk down the Woolloomooloo stairs to the Botanic gardens or through to the city and Martin Place.
